Murder Mysteries
Susan was featured in a news hour segment by St. John Alexander, focusing on past murder mysteries in Vancouver, British Columbia. She talked about the 1924 murder of nursemaid Janet Smith that had Vancouver in an uproar at the time amid rumours of high society involvement while exposing a racist vein throughout the city. Susan wrote about this murder and five others in her book British Columbia Murders (See Menu).

VANCOUVER PUBLIC LIBRARY APPEARANCE
I want to thank everyone who came out to hear me at the Vancouver Public Library on February 25, 2013. I was talking about my book The Opening Act: Canadian Theatre History, 1945-1953. You all listened intently to the stories of Canada’s professional theatre pioneers in their own words. You laughed and applauded their exploits. It was an exhausting but exciting time to be an actor in Canada. As for me, I had the best time that night. You were a generous and intelligent group of people. There is nothing I love more than to have as many questions to answer at the end of the talk as I did that night. I wish I could take all of you with me wherever I talk.
WORD ON THE STREET
I had a great deal of fun at Word on the Street, September 30, 2012. I am incredibly grateful to CUPE Local 391 for inviting me to read from my latest book, The Opening Act: Canadian Theatre History, 1945-1953.
I was greeted by Alexandra Youngberg, President of Local 391, who did everything possible to make the experience as great for me as it was, finding me a stool to help my back, bottled water to soothe my throat and allowing me to display a large poster for my book. She even bought one of my books. Thanks Alex for a wonderful day.
BOOK LAUNCH
The launch of Susan’s latest book, The Opening Act: Canadian Theatre History, 1945-1953 took place on June 17, 2012. It happened on Father’s Day, which was very appropriate given that it was her father’s death that was the catalyst for the book to be written. We are pleased to share below a couple of photos from that joyous celebration
